MNA, ex-minister booked for attacking hospital, torturing doctors

MUZAFFARGARH: Police Sunday registered a case against former defence minister Abdul Qayyum Jatoi, MNA Moazam Jatoi and their accomplices for attacking the Jatoi THQ Hospital and torturing two doctors and two paramedics.
Former defence minister Abdul Qayyum Jatoi, MNA Moazam Jatoi and their more than 100 men armed with weapons allegedly attacked the Jatoi THQ Hospital and tortured duty doctor SMO Dr Saleem Akhtar Leghari and Dr Sami and two paramedics. They kidnapped Dr Saleem and tortured him and occupied the hospital land on Saturday night.
Punjab PMA president Dr Mahar Muhammad Iqbal and district president Dr Maqbool Alam condemned the incident. They called a complete strike in Muzaffargarh hospitals and health units. The DCO retrieved the government land and demolished illegal boundary wall around the land. Qayyum Jatoi and MNA Moazam Jatoi in a press conference told journalists that their plot worth billions of rupees was close to the THQ Hospital and the construction of a boundary wall around the plot was going on when on the suggestion of their political rivals, Dr Saleem and others tried to take possession the plot and demolished the boundary wall and kidnapped their servant Manzoor. They said they reached the hospital and asked Dr Saleem about the plot and their servant, but Dr Saleem treated them badly and threatened them of dire consequences.
