FAISALABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Amir
Maulana Fazalur Rehman has threatened to lodge a strong protest if the
government tries to reopen the Nato supplies, adding that the failed
foreign policy of the rulers had given nothing to the masses except
humiliation and disrespect.
He was addressing a jam-packed press conference at the Jamia Madinatul Ilm, where he said he had no objection to the visit of President Zardari to India, but the Kashmir issue must be given priority during the visit. Fazl said as a result of becoming coalition partners in the war against terrorism, more than 40,000 Pakistanis had lost their lives, adding that even after the loss of $70 billion, Pakistan was still being threatened by the US.
Fazl said secular people wanted to impose the law of their will on the country, adding that change will not occur in the country until the people of the Punjab struggled for it. He said that trade with India was not in Pakistanís favour, adding that due to the water aggression of India, the Pakistani agriculture sector was being affected severely.
He said it was foolish to fix head money on Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, adding that the rulers wanted to take credit for popular decisions and throw unpopular decisions at parliament so it could be maligned. Fazl said production could not be increased and the masses would not prosper until gas and electricity loadshedding ended.
