Four medical colleges being set up in Punjab: Shahbaz


LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that revolutionary steps are being taken for the provision of best medical facilities to the masses and improvement of health sector.

Presiding over a meeting here Saturday regarding improvement in healthcare sector and to review initiatives in this regard he said that besides establishment of 410-bed teaching hospital in Bahawalpur and 270-bed state of the art Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi, four medical colleges had also been set up in DeraGhazi Khan, Sahiwal, Sialkot and Gujranwala and the construction of buildings of these colleges was being started soon. 

While constituting a committee for the recruitment of faculty members in four medical colleges, the Chief Minister directed that the process of recruitment of faculty members should be completedspeedily. He directed to constitute an independent committee for purchasing equipments for the hospitals of Bahawlapur and Rawalpindi.

Assembly Members, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Finance, Commissioner Lahore and officers concerned were present. Secretary Health gave a detailed briefing regarding improvement of health sector, various projects and other major initiatives taken in this regard. (APP)
