Pakistan has condial ties with IMF: Finance Minister

KARACHIi: Pakistan has good relations with the International Monetary Fund IMF and recent talks with the Fund were "cordial," Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said on Saturday.

He was inaugurating seminar on revival of economic growth in Pakistan organized by Finance Ministry to find ways to remove constraints, look for means to nhance savings, investments and ensuring inclusive growth.

IMF official Adnan Mazarei, who also spoke said IMF had "good" discussions with Pakistan, which was facing some short term issues. He said there was need for addressing fiscal growth, banking and energy sectors on long-term basis.

Dr. Shaikh in his address said national economy shown "better performance" in first four months of current fiscal year 2011-12 and trend is expected to continue in remaining eight months. He said government was committed to reforms agenda to ensure economic stability remains intact. Focus was to identify and find solutions to key constraints, he added.
