LAHORE – Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has held President Asif Ali
Zardari responsible for all the problems facing the country. Zardari is
inconsiderate to the troubles of the masses, the chief minister told the
media persons after hearing public complaints at his tent office at
Minar-e-Pakistan on Monday.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the
agonising loadshedding had placed the nation in a painful situation,
whereas life of the general public had become miserable because of
hours-long power outages. He said torturous loadshedding had brought the
country’s economy to the brink of disaster and no one knew why Punjab
and people of the province were being targeted and victimised.
Provincial
ministers, assembly members and government officers were present on the
occasion. The chief minister heard the complaints for over an hour and
issued on-the-spot orders. The maximum number of complaints related to
police, excessive billing of electricity, qabza groups and mutual
disputes. Those seeking government jobs and financial assistance also
met the chief minister.
“It is a grave injustice that industries
and mills of the rest of the country are operating six days a week,
however, in Punjab, industries and factories are running for only three
to four days, because of massive loadshedding,” Shahbaz Sharif held.
He
noted that the former prime minister had announced uniform loadshedding
throughout the country, but the decision was never implemented. He held
Zardari responsible for all the ills that the people were facing today,
as he had no concern with their problems and difficulties. Shahbaz
Sharif observed that had problems of the people been fully realised, the
decision of uniform loadshedding throughout the country would have been
implemented.
He said the DISCOS of Punjab were earning profit,
however, unfortunately, this profit was being utilised to meet the
losses of other power distribution companies in the rest of the country.
The chief minister said that he had no expectations from the new prime
minister of bringing relief to the people by resolving energy crisis.
